FAQs

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q? HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY SYSTEMS’ AIR FILTERS?
AThis is a very commonly asked question, and an important one at that. However, there are so many variables that need to be taken into account that a concrete answer is hard to give. Factors such as the type of filter, your lifestyle, if there are pets in the home and how you are affected by allergies can all play a part in how often a filter should be changed. With that being said, we at Griffith Heating & Cooling highly recommend checking your air filters on a monthly basis, and quite simply, if they are dirty, change them. Checking your filters monthly will ensure that they never get too dirty as a dirty filter can greatly reduce the performance of you HVAC system.

Q? HOW IMPORTANT IS INDOOR AIR QUALITY (IAQ) TO MY HOME AND HVAC SYSTEMS?
AIAQ is one of the most important components in the HVAC business as it not only pertains to your HVAC system, but to your health. It is commonly known that a clean HVAC system will outlast a dirty one, and potentially save you money while doing so, but what many people don't think about is how this same HVAC system can affect you! There are so many amazing IAQ products on the market today that can greatly improve the quality of the air you breathe which in turn has positive effects on your allergies, your dry eyes, your breathing, your health, and even in the amount of dust in your home.

Contact us today at Griffith Heating & Cooling so that we can educate you on
some industry leading products that can change your view on what clean air really is.

Q? HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY SYSTEMS BE MAINTAINED WITH AN HVAC TUNE-UP AND WHY?
AYour HVAC system is one of the largest investments that a homeowner can make and one that will hopefully serve you well for years to come, but just like your car, it needs to be properly maintained to allow it to do so. We highly recommend having your systems maintenance once every 6 months to ensure they continue to run to their full potential.
A properly maintained system should outlast and outperform a system that has been denied maintenance, just as your can will not perform the way it should if you don't do routine oil changes. Let Griffith Heating & Cooling give your HVAC system the care it needs with our Preventative Maintenance Agreement.

ASEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. So what does that mean to you? Simply put, the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient your cooling system will operate, which in turn can show you energy savings on your monthly power bills! So a 16 SEER system is more efficient than a 14 SEER just as an 18 SEER system is more efficient than that same 16 SEER.

Q? WHAT IS ENERGY STAR?
AEnergy Star is an International standard for energy efficient consumer products originated in the United States. This can relate to anything from a new home, to your HVAC system and appliances. Having an Energy Star rated HVAC system can significantly lower your heating and cooling bills.
